Fire Danger

Two years ago the Galloway Forest Park fell victim to a wild fire that lasted for three days. This needed over thirty men, a helicopter and a lot of hard work and perseverance to finally tame and put out. Not only was significant damage done but the fire also cost the taxpayer a significant amount of money. As a direct result of this event, everything possible must be done to prevent another fire from starting by following these simple guidelines:

    1. Do not light fires whilst in the perimeter of the Galloway Forest Park.
    2. Do not throw away glass or lit cigarettes.
    3. Dial 999 and ask for the Fire Brigade if you come across any unattended hill or forest fire.
